If you’re considering building an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) or Junior Accessory Dwelling Unit (JADU) in Newark, LiveLarge Home is here to help you navigate the city’s regulations and development standards, ensuring a smooth and successful project. Below is an overview of the key guidelines for ADU construction in Newark.

ADU Types:

  • Detached ADU: A newly constructed or converted separate structure, such as a garage or standalone unit.

  • Junior Accessory Dwelling Unit (JADU): A small, self-contained unit within an existing single-family home.
    • Maximum Size: 500 sq. ft.

General Information: ADUs are an excellent way to increase living space, create rental income, or accommodate family members. Whether you need extra space or want to generate additional income, building an ADU can be a great investment.
